PT Skyline Electric Golf Trolley
We appreciate that choosing the right electric golf trolley is your greatest concern. We've made this easy flow chart below to help you think through the process, and to help explain some of the unique features of our electric golf trolleys. Read on to make your choice, but if you get to the bottom and you're still not clear then just give us a shout and we'll walk you through it.
Power Delivery
The Kinetic Energy Recovery System and Variable Electronic Braking System that sets our PT models apart from the competition.
The question we'd like to ask is about your home golf course. Is it a flat course, or is it hilly? The reason we ask is that the biggest distinction between our GT and PT ranges is in the clutch mechanism. Our GT range are driven by a standard gearbox and clutch design, the same design used in over 90% of golf trolleys sold in the UK. This style of clutch has a solid rear axle, and free wheeels down hills, meaning that you will have to hold the trolley back as as you're walking downhill, which can be tricky on steep slopes.
Our PT range, short for Pure Traction, has a split axle and Limited Slip Differential which has a few significant advantages:
- Firstly the PT range has a Variable Electronic Braking System that gives you total control of the trolley. Whether you're walking uphill or downhill the trolley maintains the speed that you set on the digital controller, increasing power to drive uphill, or braking automatically when moving downhill.
- Secondly the Limited Slip Differential in our PT range each of the rear wheels to turn independently, allowing you to pivot or rotate the trolley on the spot. In contrast all clutch style trolleys will lock one wheel, resisting your steering motion and increasing the trolley's turning circle.
- The third significant benefit of the PT range is the Kinetic Energy Recovery System. We've already explained that our PT trolleys use a braking system to prevent the trolley running away when moving downhill, as would happen in a normal clutch driven system. What we didn't mention is that any time the Braking System works it actually captures this 'kinetic energy' and uses it to recharge the battery. This technology is similar to that used in hybrid cars and helps top up the battery giving you longer life to enjoy an extra round.
Chassis Design
The base chassis model for the GT and PT trolleys is a strong, box section style chassis. Designed not only for strength, but also for stability, ensuring your trolley travels in a straight line. The base chassis is simple, compact, and has proven extremely popular over the years. Our base model is keenly priced, and provides fantastic value for money at the lower end of the price bracket.

Skyline vs Air
Ultimately wheel selection is a styling choice, a matter of personal preference. The two wheel types we offer are called Skyline, and Air:
Skyline – an aesthetic, sporty “alloy” wheel, this modern look helps to deliver the styling that all trolleys crave.
Air – A smooth running air wheel that helps the trolley to travel with that extra little bit of cushioning. This is a great choice to run with a Pure Traction Trolley, helping with every essence of the Pure Traction name!

Which battery is right for you?
All our trolleys come with a choice of 2 batteries, 27 and 36-hole*. The default settings is to supply you with a 27 hole battery. If you would ilke to upgrade simply select the battery upgrade option above. All batteries benefit from the protection offered by the 2010 range of Ultrasonic Digital Speed Controllers. The controllers will never allow the battery to be discharged too deeply, power will simply be refused to the trolley, but if the battery is put back on charge within a matter of hours, no damage will have been done and the battery life will have been retained. (Draining of batteries by some controllers is one of the main reasons for battery failure).
Another reason for battery failure is the use of an incompatible battery charger. We have ensured that our chargers will not harm your battery.
Hopefully safe in the knowledge that our power sources and electronics work well together, the choice of battery can be as simple as:
27-hole – the most popular battery, suitable for all styles of course and all types of golfer – you’ll always be well served with this type of battery.
36-hole – for the hardened golfer, will serve the big playing golfer well
* Under normal operating conditions on a standard GT Trolley.
Colour?
Now all that is left is to choose your colour. Our GT/PT trolleys are Powder Coated in Graphite or Silver to give a strong, robust and great looking finish.
